Big second half lifts men against Concordia-Selma

On Senior Day, the University of West Florida men’s basketball team played its season finale against the Concordia-Selma Hornets and won 91-76. Senior Max Hoggard led the team with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and junior forward Ervin Herron followed with 23 points.

Criticism of Obama unfounded

I hear people say: “Obama believes in Islam, Obama will destroy health care, Obama wants us to pay for illegal immigrants’ health care, Obama lies and Grandma dies, Obama wants to teach atheism to children, Obama was a terrorist.” Is it just me, or is criticism and hatred of our current president more prevalent than criticism of any previous president? Sure, people hated Clinton when the Monica Lewinsky affair hit the fan, and there were vocal critics of Bush’s Iraqi war campaign, but there seems to be a genuine hatred and mistrust for Obama like I’ve never seen or heard about before.

End of the Line cafe is not the last word

End of the Line Cafe could be nestled perfectly into some corner of New Orleans. But in the Panhandle, it sticks out like a nun in a mosh pit. The bright-blue vegan cafe was easy to spot among the dull buildings that line Wright Street in downtown Pensacola.

UWF gets a grade of B for general coursework

A non-profit organization from Washington ranks UWF against other schools

The University of West Florida received a grade of B from the American Council for Trustees and Alumni for requiring that its students take only four out of seven areas of general course work. ACTA, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., followed the academic catalogs of 170 universities to learn if the schools offered broad courses in the areas of composition, literature, mathematics, natural sciences, economics, foreign language and history.

FWB campus left in the cold

The University of West Florida’s Emerald Coast Campus was unable to provide heat to its facilities from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10 because of a break in the main water system. Although heat was unavailable at the Fort Walton Beach campus during the five-day period, the campus functioned as normal. 1 comment
