We at The Voyager are always urging students to let their voices be heard. Not to sound like a broken record, but students, here’s your chance.
As soon as President Judy Bense announced the proposed $11.9 million reduction in state funds for the 2012-2013 school year, she sought the input of anyone who wanted to pitch in his or her thoughts to find a solution.
In a March 7 memo, Bense invited the campus community to engage in a “dialogue regarding the options of how to solve this one-time $12 million reduction next year” as well as any ideas for changing current money management procedures.
Anyone with an idea is encouraged to email his or her suggestions to budgetsuggestions@uwf.edu.
The Voyager staff would like to commend Bense for her effort to include the students, faculty and staff in the decisions the University now faces in order to handle the cuts.
Now, it’s time for the students, faculty and staff to do their part.
The proposed reduction will be a serious hit for the University financially, one that could affect everyone on campus.
There could be a myriad of ways to deal with this cut, and it’s possible someone out there in the campus community has an idea the University has yet to consider.
Since the president is open for ideas, we at The Voyager encourage everyone on campus to send an email with his of her thoughts on the subject.
