In the first issue of The Voyager for this school year, we published an editorial that spoke of the changes happening at the University of West Florida in light of President Judy’s Bense’s then-recent announcement about a football team in the works.
It only seems fitting to come full circle for the last issue of the year. Over the past nine months, the University of West Florida has seen changes, some good and some bad.
We at The Voyager have worked hard to cover the major events as they occurred, and we hope that we fulfilled our role as the No. 1 source of news on campus for students, faculty and staff this past year. We would like to thank all of the students, faculty and staff who worked with us to ensure the campus stayed informed.
This issue marks a change in the Voyager itself because it’s the last time our staff will be a part of making the publication. We’re saying goodbye to our current editor-in-chief and graduating seniors and making room for a brand new staff to take the paper into next year. We know the new staff is already brainstorming ways to make The Voyager bigger and better than ever, so stay tuned next year to see what they come up with.
We feel confident that the spirit of change will continue at UWF as the administration works to create a more “traditional” atmosphere. It is our hope that The Voyager will continue to reflect the shift in atmosphere by covering student life, breaking news and everything in between in a way that keeps everyone on campus entertained and informed.
Thanks for the memories, UWF. We at The Voyager will never forget our time here.
