OA offers a flurry of fun for students this spring break

Fourteen University of West Florida students will not be spending their spring break swimming and tanning at the beach, but rather enjoying icy slopes and heaps of snow.

UWF Outdoor Adventures is hosting a trip to Killington Ski Resort in Killington, Vt. The excursion will last from March 9-17.

Dalton Cooper, a student trip leader and Outdoor Adventures climbing instructor, will be going on his second trip to the resort in three years.

“I have been to Killington before, two years ago with Outdoor Adventures,” Cooper said in an email. “I had an absolute blast and am very excited for this year’s trip!”

The group will stay at the resort area at the bottom of Killington Mountain. The park covers 3,000 acres with 70 miles of navigable terrain over six mountain peaks, according to the Killington Mountain website. People who need equipment for the trip will be able to rent it from the resort gear shop.

Justin Iserman, an Outdoor Adventures climbing instructor and building manager, said that although he will not be going to Killington this year, he remembers his experience at the resort fondly.

“The ski trip was awesome, probably one of my favorite trips I’ve ever gone on in my entire life,” Iserman said.

Iserman said that, in addition to snowboarding, one of the best aspects of the trip came with the chance to spend time with friends and meet with the locals.

“We meet people up there, talked to people that were from Vermont and saw the differences from the North and the South,” Iserman said.

There are two more spots open for anyone interested in going on the trip, Cooper said in the email. Spaces cost $500 each, which includes the stay in the resort, accommodations and lift tickets. For more information, contact Outdoor Adventures at 850-474-2061 or outdooradventure@uwf.edu.
