University of West Florida softball junior Danielle Sanders has been named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after helping lead UWF to a two-game sweep over Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday. This is the first time Sanders has been honored with this award.
Sanders went 5-for-7 at the plate on Saturday against UAH and was a home run short of the cycle. The junior hit .714 and slugged 1.143 on the day and also stole two bases to help lead the Argonauts. The Leesburg, Fla. led off the first game with a stand-up triple off the fence in deep center field off the first pitch she saw.
The junior currently ranks third in the Gulf South Conference in steals (19) and leads the Argonauts on the year in runs scored (23).
