A.F.I. has sold millions of records and played shows all over the world. On March 18, the band will return to Pensacola for the first time since 2004 to perform at the Seville Quarter Party Plaza.
Buck Mitchell, the man in charge of special events and marketing for Seville Quarter, is very excited about what A.F.I. is bringing to the Party Plaza.
“Tickets are selling at a record pace,” Mitchell said. “This show is shaping up to be the biggest show we’ve ever had.”
The Seville Quarter Party Plaza opened last year and is the most recent addition to Seville Quarter, the premiere night-life location in downtown Pensacola. It is an outdoor concert venue capable of holding 2,500 people.
The Party Plaza contains a huge stage with dazzling lighting and is very accommodating for a band as artistically dynamic in concert as A.F.I.
A.F.I.’s last performance in Pensacola was for a sold-out crowd at the Bayfront Auditorium in 2004. Mitchell believes that the band’s return to Pensacola will be bigger and better.
“If you’ve ever seen A.F.I. live, then you know that these guys bring it to the stage,” Mitchell said. “Hopefully, this show will be something that Pensacola remembers for a long time.”
A.F.I. is touring in support of the album, “Crash Love,” which was released on Sept. 29, 2009. “Crash Love” features the band’s most mature and dynamic songwriting to date.
“Beautiful Thieves,” the first single off of “Crash Love,” is a perfect example of the band’s growing maturation as songwriters. The song possesses a subtly groovy melody and a truly powerful chorus.
These characteristics will fit in nicely with the emo-punk sound that A.F.I. is famous for exhibiting in its previous records.
A.F.I. will be performing at the Seville Quarter Party Plaza in downtown Pensacola on March 18. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. with opening acts The Loved Ones and Scarlet Grey.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $24 on the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Seville Quarter Gift Shop. Tickets can also be purchased at Blues Angel Music, located at 3733 W. Navy Blvd. in Pensacola.
