Argonauts finish third in golf tourney

The No. 2 University of West Florida men's golf team was upset by two underdogs, Arkansas Tech and Delta State in the 2004 Gulf South Conference Tournament. Tech claimed the championship with a total of 871 strokes, and close behind was DSU with 872. UWF finished in third place with a total score of 876.
Delta State's Kevin Jones was the individual medalist. He led all three rounds with scores of 69, 70 and 70 for a total of 209 strokes. The league newcomer earned both GSC Player of the Year and GSC Freshman of the Year honors. Andrea Signor and Fredrik Lundberg led the Argonauts in a tie at fifth place with 218 strokes. Signor was tied in sixth yesterday with scores of 78 and 67, and he shot 73 today. Lundberg made a bump up from a tie in 18th place after his first two rounds of 73 and 74 with a score of 71 today. Both earned All-GSC First Team honors. Adam Neville made the All-GSC Second Team. He finished in a tie at eighth place with total of 219 strokes. Neville shot rounds of 71 and 74 yesterday and a final round of 74 today.
Also competing for UWF were Will Grace, tied at 19th, and Matthew Berzovich, tied at 35th. Grace shot three rounds of 76, 70 and 77. Berzovich posted scores of 76, 74 and 81.
The NCAA Division II Men's Golf South Regional will be hosted by Drury University on May 3 through 5 at Millwood Golf Club in Springfield, Mo.
