The University of West Florida women's golf team won their first title of the season, and fifth since the program's inception in 2003.

After finishing the first round in first place, West Florida held their lead to claim the Oct. 10 and 11, 2005 Lenoir-Rhyne Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at Baytree Golf Club.

West Florida's finished with a 615 team total. Their second round 304, was the lowest team round in the history of the program. The Argonauts finished four shots ahead of second place Grand Valley State.

"With the level of competition improving every year it is nice to improve and be on top," said West Florida head coach Robin Dezarn. "The girls were confident today and it's a nice reward for their hard work in limited practice."

Clara Fornella led the Argonauts with 150 (75-75) for a third place finish. Victoria Jackson earned a ninth place finish with a 153 (77-76). Sarah Nicholson posted a first round 80, but rebounded to record a second round 74 to finish in a tie for tenth with a 158. Lorena Fortlage shot a 158 (79-79) for seventeenth, while Jackie Gonzalez finished tied for thirty-fifth with a 165 (80-85). Drury University's Tonya Choate took home individual honors with a 145 (73-72).

West Florida will return to the links on Oct. 23 when they travel to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. to participate in the NSU Fall Classic.
