Adam Day is bringing his sound – “unembellished honesty,” as he calls it on his MySpace – to the Emerald Coast Campus at 7 p.m. Friday.
Day’s visit is part of the Spotlight series of free concerts at Emerald Coast. He’ll be performing at the Student Center in Building 2 on the Fort Walton Beach Campus. For a map to the location, follow the link at the end of this article.
This is Day’s first trip to the Florida Panhandle, though he’s been touring full time for about 2 years.
“I’ve played almost every state on the East Coast,” Day said. “From North Carolina to Maine – and I’ve played inland, in Chicago, Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky – but I’m excited about playing the Panhandle.”
Day has been playing since he was 16, but he didn’t set out for the touring life right away. He attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y., and graduated with a degree in music production.
His many and varied influences – from Johnny Cash to the Indigo Girls – come through loud and clear in his “I Stayed Up Late to Make this” EP. His soulful voice pairs with intelligent lyrics to deliver a sweet, modern sound, with shades of an early Jason Mraz showing through in his rhythms and phrasing.
To get a taste of his sound for yourself, check out his MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/adamday, or see for yourself at the show.
Keep an eye on the Voyager site for a full review of the "Stayed Up Late" EP, coming soon.
