Forensics Team Takes First
The University of West Florida Forensics Team won the 2010 State Championship in Debate at the Florida Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Championship at Florida Atlantic University.
The team had been preparing since September for the competition, honing their skills in areas such as argumentation and eloquence.
Three UWF competitors won four individual championships: Kristen Rowland and Lonex Louisdor, Parliamentary Debate; Lonex Louisdor, Parliamentary Debate Speaker; Joseph Gagliardi, After Dinner Speaking and Kristen Rowland, Lincoln Douglas Speaker.
Advertising Students Triumph at ADDYs
The University of West Florida took the ADDY Awards for Creative Excellence by storm, with eight advertising students bringing home a total of 15 ADDY gold, silver and bronze awards.
Student Matthew Bonno won a gold ADDY for his ad for Fiat. UWF ADDY award winners were: Jose Rodriguez, Matthew Bonno, Laura Marsh, Kimberly Spann, Michael Mickelson, Chantel Parker, Christine Paden and Jared Granger.
Advertising professor Thomas Groth also won gold and silver ADDY awards in Illustration. The ADDY awards for Creative Excellence were held Feb. 19 at the Pensacola Beach Hilton.
