Shame on the homecoming committee!
The total lack of respect and consideration displayed for the Lady Argos Soccer team and their opponents, the visiting North Alabama Lions, cannot be excused and must not be repeated.
An apology should be extended to the faithful soccer fans, especially those who had traveled from Florence, Ala. to support their Lady Lions. With the game in progress, an important Gulf South Conference match, vehicles drove behind the bleachers with horns honking.Fact.
After setting up a tent, these representatives of the homecoming committee disrupted the view of the fans while flinging beads, cups, etc. into the crowd.
Add to this the explosions of the device used to fire T-shirts and a megaphone to lead “cheers.” Fact.
With no understanding of the sport, with their backs to the game they were encouraging “cheers.” For Whom?
Players and officials were distracted. You hear what sounds like gunfire, you duck.
All of these antics should have taken place at half time.
Next year the Athletic Department must be consulted and/or common sense used.
One kudo: No money was sent up as fireworks.
Sincerely,
Val Besser
A disgruntled soccer supporter.

Their actions were, simply put, an exercise of the students' first amendment rights in a public setting and therefore are not obligated to be regulated by university officials, or yourself for that matter sir - in this or any future event. Please consult your American Constitution if you have any further questions about this.
Perhaps the best course of action for you at this juncture, Mr. Besser, is to calm down #1 because this action hardly warrants a Letter to the Editor, and #2 - Maybe you should reconsider driving down for games at UWF, because frankly sir - We don't want your negative, undeserving pressence on our campus.
Have a great day.Best,
