When someone hears the term “Oval Office,” one probably thinks of the White House. However, Milton residents may think of the best burgers in town.
Oval Office Pub & Grub can be found right off I-10 exit 22, on Avalon Boulevard in Milton. The owners of the bar and grill are very proud of their burgers, which they boast are the best in town. The Oval Office has been mentioned in the Pensacola News Journal as one of the best places in the area to get a burger.
Al and Deb Grinde have been running the local bar and grill for nearly 18 years. The married couple moved to the Panhandle after working at a Chrysler car plant in Michigan. The couple originally opened a small bar in the area and eventually decided to grill burgers for hungry customers as well.
Al Grinde can be found behind the grill almost every day in the Oval Office, cooking the tasty burgers. While in Michigan, Grinde was a driver in the Automobile Racing Club of America, which explains the racing atmosphere of the Oval Office.
The small establishment is covered from wall to wall in racing and NASCAR memorabilia. “My wife and I are huge racing fans,” said Grinde.
The place would be ideal for racing fans who want to enjoy watching Speedvision while eating. The Oval Office is also family friendly — the restaurant even has several arcade games for kids to play.
Grinde said that that their passion for racing comes after living in Michigan for over 22 years. The Oval Office refers to the winner’s circle, and also the circular shape of most racetracks.
The burgers do live up to the hype. For a little under $7, you can get the “best cheeseburger in town,” and your choice of a side, such as fries or chips. Like most area bar-and-grills, the menu is relatively small. The main attraction to the small establishment is the delicious burgers, and deservedly so. The Oval Office also has several appetizers to choose from, such as onion rings or the newly added fried macaroni ‘n’ cheese bites.
The bar also features happy hour drink specials from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Oval Office is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sundays. The grill will be on until 10 p.m., though the bar doesn’t close until midnight.
