On Nov. 14, the University of West Florida Exercise Science club will be hosting the second official Argonaut Games, a competition displaying the strength and speed of the athletes involved and a $50 cash prize for the winner.

“The competition combines events common to those of the strongman events,” said Ryan Goss, creator of the event.

The Argonaut Games will be a competition of five events: overhead press, tire flips, farmer’s carry, truck pull and a crazy medley.

“We tried choosing events that people didn’t usually train with,” Goss said. “There is a big difference between lifting weights in the gym and flipping a tire in the field.”

The games will be located at the Martin Hall Multipurpose Field at 1 p.m. There is an $8 entrance fee when you sign-up before the event. To sign-up early e-mail Ryan Goss at rmg20@gmail.students.uwf.edu. Otherwise, there is a $10 entrance fee at the event.

The fee will go towards the Exercise Science Club at UWF, which is currently trying to merge with the Andrews Institute. The club is also raising money to possibly attend the Arnold Classic later in the school year.

Ryan Goss, along with Sean Lacey, started the Argonaut Games to raise money for the exercise science club. The event originally started three years ago and was called the Strongman Competition.
