If you’re looking for a little motivation to get into the gym and shed a few pounds this fall, the staff of Fitness/Wellness suggest you check out some of the fitness programs that UWF offers  this fall.

Here are some programs that can help you stay on track and keep you motivated to work out with the group fitness classes.

Fit 5-0

Attend 50 group fitness classes throughout the fall semester and be entered into a raffle at the end of the semester to have the chance to win a fitness prize pack that includes fitness wear, fitness equipment and other prizes. To participate, students need to go to the front desk to receive their 5-0 card and have the class instructor initial after every class. Prizes can be earned after completing 15, 30 and 50 group fitness classes.

The A.C.E. /G.F.I.T course

If you’ve ever wanted to become a group fitness instructor and teach classes on campus or off, then this is the course you have been waiting for. The course runs Sept. 9 – Nov. 25 and will prepare you for the certification test offered on campus. The course costs $125 for students and $175 for non-students.

If you prefer to work out on your own schedule, or if you’re just trying to prove that you can best Lou Ferrigno in a battle of fisticuffs, then you might want to check out some of these other fitness programs the Fitness/Wellness  staff are offering this fall.

ArgoFit is a program aimed at encouraging students to maintain a steady schedule of at least three to four workouts a week. Simply sign up and record each workout at the front desk from Aug. 26 – Nov. 27, limited to one workout a day. Prizes are available after completing 30, 40 and 50 workouts and include a T-Shirt that can only be earned by completing the full 50 workouts challenge.

“You can’t buy them; you can’t buy your way into this,” Nate Johnson, graduate assistant in Fitness/Wellness said. “This is paid for in sweat and effort.”

Argo Weight Club

Do you even lift bro? Come to the fitness center and try to achieve the goal of 400, 800 or 1200 pounds of weight in the bench press, deadlift and squat lifts in the presence of a fitness center staff member and earn a UWF shirt to commemorate your accomplishments. The lifts can be attempted up to three times in the semester, but no more than once per week, by coming to the fitness center and asking a staff member to evaluate your lifts.

Johnson also recommends looking online at the Fitness/Wellness site and checking out the personal trainers available for the fall semester. They offer several options to assist you in attaining your goals in whatever fitness style you desire.
