Week 8 NFL Game Picks

Dolphins @ Patriots: Even though New England has suffered losses in two of their last three games, Miami’s struggles extend to both sides of the ball, with the offense failing to operate consistently and the defense has been unable to come up with key stops in necessary situations. New England should win this one.

Buffalo @ New Orleans: The Saints will have the raucous environment of the Superdome to aid them in coming back from their loss against the New England Patriots. Saints’ QB Brees and his well-rested offense are coming off of a bye week and should easily pick apart Buffalo’s defense. New Orleans should win this one.

Washington @ Denver: RGIII may be coming off of his best game of the season so far with his win over Chicago. Recording a W came at a much needed time for the Redskins (I’m for this name getting ditched) – but they won’t be enough to stop an angry Denver and an incredible Manning, who will be looking to pick up ground after their loss to Indianapolis. Denver should win this one.

New York Jets @ Cincinnati: The Bengals have become a legitimate threat in the AFC. Currently leading the Northern Division, Cincinnati will host a Jets team that is riding high off of their improbable win against New England. The result of this game depends on how Jets’ rookie QB Geno Smith shows up to play, but Cincy’s strong secondary should be able to keep him contained. Cincinnati should win this one.

Green Bay @ Minnesota: The Vikings have yet to win a game at home this season, and will be facing QB Aaron Rodgers and an offense that is beginning to find it’s stride with Jarrett Boykin and Eddie Lacy giving Rodgers a running game that was absent at the beginning of the season. New QB Josh Freeman won’t be able to get the best of the Packers, and Minnesota’s defense has too many holes to stand up to Green Bay. Green Bay should win this one.

Players to pick up:

Jarret Boykin, WR/Green Bay – Boykin is coming off of an impressive showing against Cleveland, with eight receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. Rodgers loves to target his slot receivers, and with injuries plaguing the Packers most heavily targeted receivers, look for Boykin to see more passes thrown in his direction Sunday against Minnesota.

Julius Thomas, TE/Denver – Thomas is a solid tight end, averaging 60 yards a game. A favorite target of Manning in red zone situations, he may not be mesmerizing like the Saints’ Jimmy Graham, but he is consistent. Look for Thomas to have a solid showing Sunday against Washington.

Players to drop:

Jay Cutler, QB/Chicago – Chicago is more than likely embracing their bye week with open arms considering Cutler left Sunday’s game with an injury that is not looking good for his return.

Willis McGahee, RB/Cleveland – Considering Cleveland will be facing a tough, undefeated Kansas City, I wouldn’t play for points with a running back who has been inconsistent against a defense that has dominated every week.
